Sarah Heard - Saxophone and Flute

Sarah Heard began to learn the flute at the age of 8. She played in the Triggshire and Cornwall Wind Orchestras.

At the age of 15, Sarah borrowed a tenor saxophone and started to play this when she attended the University of Southampton.

In 2004, Sarah took a placement as resident musician for in a resort in Greece. On her return to the UK she began teaching in the Southampton area and performed regularly in holiday resorts along the South Coast. She also played in the pit orchestra for shows such as Oklahoma, The Beggar's Opera and Joseph & The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Today Sarah regularly plays with large ensembles including Pops Incorporated UK (the UK version of the famous "Boston Pops Orchestra"), Winchester Chamber Orchestra, Meridian Winds (wind ensemble) and Flautissimo (a flute orchestra), of which she is the chairman.

Sarah is continuously looking for new challenges; having gained her Diploma of The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and become an Associate of Trinity College London (with Distinction) in December 2008.

Sarah loves the way music brings people together and endeavours to pass this enjoyment on to her pupils.
