Naomi Tagg is an electric and acoustic violinist with a modern twist.
With a background in classical and jazz studies at the University of Cape Town, Naomi has taken a rather
unconventional approach to the violin by combining electric violin with contemporary music as currently displayed
in electronic jazzy lounge duo "So What", as well as her solo violin act.
In the last few years, Naomi has shared the stage with many top musicians around the world including John Legend,
Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Soweto String Quartet, Sibongile Khumalo, Mango Groove, Danny K, Loyiso, Arno Carstens,
Prime Circle, Gloria Bosman, Xolani Dlamini, the Parlotones as well as South Africa's top jazz musicians.
Naomi has performed at many top events including the Elton John Charity Ball in Cape Town with Sir Elton John and
Blue, Virgin X-Box Launch with Richard Branson and Peter Gabriel, Richmond International, as well as on the catwalk at
many prestigious fashion shows including Miss SA 2005, Positive Rocks (an AIDS benefit concert and fashion show with John Legend),
Miss Bikini World and many others. She has also performed at the South African Music Awards and numerous car launches (including BMW,
Mercedes, Ford, Toyota, Peugeot, Audi, Investment Cars (as well as writing the music for the latest Hummer commercial aired in
South Africa and Kenya).
Other clients include BT, Moet & Chandon, Peroni, SAB, Heineken, Discovery Health, Sony Playstation, Shell, Virgin Active,
Rohlich-Grindrod, Deutsche Bank, De Beers, Samsung, Yamaha, Diesel, Fashion TV café, as well as the South African government, to
name but a few.
International corporate functions include the Seychelles for the Arab Prince, Mauritius, Zambia, Edinburgh, South Africa, Namibia
for Cancer Charity Event, Russia and the Baltic Sea for a six day cruise with Coca Cola as well as performances on the continent.
Naomi plays on a Yamaha electric violin as well as a 150-year-old acoustic violin and acoustic viola in musical styles ranging
from Dance music, Electronic and Jazz to Rock, R&B and Lounge music.
