The original Contrast was formed in 1982, while three of its present day members served together in the Band of HM Royal Marines, onboard the Royal Yacht Britannia.
For the next five years the band not only had the privilege of working and touring all over the world, but also for playing personally for all members of the Royal family, as well as many international dignitaries and heads of state.
Since leaving the Royal Marines Band Service in 1987, the three former members under the management of Mick Davis, have continued to run this versatile ten-piece dance band, recruiting the talents of other professional musicians. The addition of regular female vocalists, has further enhanced the quality and image of the band, who are now booked to play at a range of functions and events across the country.
During the last twelve years each individual musician has built up and consolidated their own fields of music; swing, jazz, soul, pop, orchestral, theatre, and session work etc, with each one capable of working in virtually any aspect of music.
